Born beneath the canopy.
Vesper Grove Academy emerged from decades observing how forests restore human sleep cycles.
Our origin
In 1997 a team of chronobiologists camped for eighteen uninterrupted months in a coastal hemlock forest. They recorded how participants’ melatonin onset advanced by 47 minutes after three nights under canopy. That single finding became the seed of Vesper Grove.
We returned every season for twenty-seven years, refining a pedagogy that pairs forest immersion with precise chronotherapy. Today our campus occupies 184 protected acres of old-growth cedar and fir.
Every structure is built from wind-fallen timber. Every classroom opens to the sky. Electric light is forbidden after dusk. Guests learn to read their own circadian signals again.
